Hey Howdy!
I'm Bethany Ann (Beth) and I use She/Her pronouns.
My Story
I am a Queer Jazz musician with a classics training. I am an ambulatory wheelchair user who uses my wheelchair as my primary form of mobility. I am also neurodiverse and have a lot of experience creating and receiving accommodations in multiple spaces and functionalities.

I have a deep believe in the Universal Human Right to Make Sound. Every sound is a path forward and towards progression. I believe music should be fun, supported, and joyous - and that practice should not be something students dread doing. I have a specialty in Modal and Jazz Theory along with composition and audio recording/editing. My continuous goal in educating within music is to foster passion, curiosity, and creative sound.

I have been a gigging musician for multiple years and have been in several bands since high school. I love performance and creation with others. My main passion in performance is in live creation and improvisation - especially with Jazz. It helps with confidence, anxiety, and deeply inspired my love of learning new instruments.

I am a disability and inclusion activist with a really large focus on creating inclusion in spaces that are not currently accessible. Notably, I am a Historical European Martial Arts Sword Instructor and have recently begun a seated HEMA space in Charlotte. I am in the top 25 internationally in Skirmishing, and absolutely love teaching others how to find confidence, control, and compassion through Sword fighting.

In 2020 I was in the top 10 Super Smash players in the state of North Carolina, and currently still game with friends. I am in multiple TTRPG's and have a passion for learning new gaming systems and strategies.

I Passed my Eagle Board of Review in 2016 and received my award in 2017 - I was awarded this rank with two confirmed lives saved. During my time in scouts, I was a Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Quartermaster, Chaplain, Orienteering Specialist, and an Order of the Arrow Nominate. I also first earned my Red Cross First Aid Certification, CPR certification, and Wilderness First Aid Certification; I am still currently certified in CPR and First Aid. My time in Scouts provided me a deep knowledge in leadership and classroom management skills that I carry with me today.

I am willing to (and excited to) work with all mobility and learning levels. Providing a custom curriculum and modified goals is exceptionally important to me. No two students are the same, and making sure there is space for every individual experience is essential.
